4th International Colloquium of Genealogy, Heraldry, and Vexillology (ICGHV4) 2025 – Vilnius, Lithuania
Theme: “Heads of State: Ancestry, Coats of Arms, and Flags”
Genealogy, heraldry and vexillology scholars, researchers and experts from 15 countries will participate in the Colloquium: Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Norway, Germany, Portugal, France, Slovenia, South Africa, Ukraine, and Vatican.
Date: June 5 2025.
Venues: ICGHV4 will be held at The Lithuanian State Historical Archives (Mindaugo str. 8, Vilnius, LVIA).

Venues: The 4th International Colloquium of Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology (ICGHV4) will be held at The Lithuanian State Historical Archives (Mindaugo str. 8, Vilnius, https://lvia.archyvai.lrv.lt/lt/).
Theme of the colloquium: “Heads of State: Ancestry, Coats of Arms, and Flags”.
Languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish and Lithuanian.
Organizer: Institute of Genealogy, Heraldry, and Vexillology (GHVI, www.ghvi.lt).
Patrons: International Federation of Vexillology Associations (www.fiav.org), International Confederation of Genealogy and Heraldry (www.cigh.info), International Academy of Genealogy (www.geneacademie.org).
Call for papers: Proposals must be submitted in the language chosen for the presentation, as well as in English, and should consist of an abstract of less than 400 words. Each abstract must be accompanied by a brief CV of the lecturer (less than 100 words). Please send your proposal before January 26 2025, in both English and the chosen language, to the following email address: info@ghvi.lt
Approval of papers: The selected lecturers will be notified individually before March 1 2025. The final paper, with a maximum length of 20 pages in Word (Times New Roman 12), must be sent by the lecturer, in the chosen language, before April 1 2025.
Presentation of papers: The Institute of Genealogy, Heraldry, and Vexillology of Lithuania (IGHV) will announce the date and time for the presentation of each paper. A maximum of 20 minutes will be allocated for each presentation, with an additional 5 minutes for questions from the audience and answers from the lecturer.
Publication of papers: The proceedings of this international colloquium (ICGHV4) will be published in the journal “Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology”, both in traditional printed format (for a fee) and in digital format (distributed free of charge to the lecturers).
Certificate of participation: Upon request, certificates will be issued by the Institute of Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology of Lithuania (IGHV).
Participation fees: Participation in the academic activities is free of charge.
Dress code: Correct formal clothes for all participants (lecturers and attendees), both on site and online.
Vendor hall information: To encourage dialogue among scholars of genealogy, heraldry, and vexillology and to foster a strong sense of fellowship and experience for participants, we invite heraldic artists, as well as organizations and schools specializing in genealogy, heraldry, and vexillology, to present their work and activities at ICGHV4. We will provide a designated space, table, and other necessary arrangements. If you wish to participate, please inform us by email at info@ghvi.lt before April 1 2025.
Gala dinner: At the “Valdovai” restaurant, at the National Museum, in the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania (4 Cathedral Square in Vilnius, www.facebook.com/valdovai.restaurant). There will be a participation fee of € 100.
Excursion: A tour of the Old Town of Vilnius will be offered to all participants and accompanying persons (June 6 2025).
Future announcements: The next notice to participants will be sent on April 1 2025. It will present the detailed programme, the latest news about registration, excursions and other activities, as well as any other useful information. All this data will be available on the www.icghv.com website, which will be regularly updated.
