III-asis tarptautinis kolokviumas „Genealogija, heraldika ir veksilologija“

Genealogijos, heraldikos ir veksilologijos institutas (toliau – Institutas) 2024 m. birželio 8–9 d. nacionaliniame muziejuje Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės valdovų rūmai surengė III-ąjį tarptautinį kolokviumą „Genealogija, heraldika ir veksilologija“ (toliau – ICGHV), kuriame dalyvavo 13-os šalių atstovai: Prancūzijos, Vokietijos, Ispanijos, Pietų Afrikos, Latvijos, Lietuvos, Lenkijos, Portugalijos, Škotijos, Danijos, Sakartvelo, Čekijos, Kubos. ICGHV tema: „Valdovai: jų kilmė, herbai ir vėliavos“. Per pirmąją dieną buvo perskaityta 18-a pranešimų.
ICGHV metu Tarptautinis lyginamosios genealogijos, heraldikos ir veksilologijos tyrimų projekto (angl. International Research Project of Comparative Genealogy, Heraldry, and Vexillology) iniciatorius vokietis Dirk Weissleder pristatė nuveiktus darbus ir veiklų perspektyvas. Pernai šio projekto steigimo deklaraciją Vilniuje pasirašė 14 šalių atstovai. Antrąją dieną svečiams iš užsienio buvo suorganizuota ekskursija po Vilniaus senamiestį.

ICGHV atidarymas vyko nacionaliniame muziejuje Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės valdovų rūmai (Katedros a. 4, Vilnius). Sveikinimo kalbą sakė Genealogijos, heraldikos ir veksilologijos instituto prezidentas Remigijus Bimba, nacionalinio muziejaus Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės valdovų rūmai generalinio direktoriaus pavaduotoja kultūrai ir mokslui prof. dr. Ramunė Šmigelskytė-Stukienė, Tarptautinės veksilologijos asociacijų federacijos gen. sekretorius dr. Bruce'as Berry'is (Pietų Afrika), Tarptautinės genealogijos ir heraldikos konfederacijos viceprezidentas Dirk‘as Weissleder‘is.
ICGHV partneriai: nacionalinis muziejus Lietuvos Didžiosios kunigaikštystės valdovų rūmai, Lietuvos vyriausiojo archyvaro tarnyba, Lietuvos valstybinis istorijos archyvas, Genealogijos akademija, Heraldikos akademija, Veksilologijos akademija.
Institutas 2025 m. birželį Vilniuje planuoja rengti IV-ąjį tarptautinį kolokviumą „Genealogija, heraldika ir veksilologija“.

The 3rd International Colloquium of Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology

 
The Institute of Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology organized the 3rd International Colloquium of Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology" (hereafter ICGHV) on 8th and 9th June 2024 at the National Museum, in the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in Vilnius. Representatives of 13 countries participated in the ICGHV: Georgia, Czechia, Cuba, Denmark, Germany, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Scotland, Spain, South Africa, Poland, Portugal. The ICGHV theme was: “Sovereigns: Ancestry, Coats of Arms, and Flags”. Up to 18 lectures were read on the first day. On the second day, a tour of the Old Town of Vilnius was organized for guests from abroad.
During the ICGHV, the initiator of the International Research Project of Comparative Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology, Mr. Dirk Weissleder (Germany), presented the work already done and the perspectives of the activities. Last year, representatives of 14 countries signed the declaration of establishment of this project in Vilnius.
The patrons of ICGHV were: the International Confederation of Genealogy and Heraldry (Confédération internationale de généalogie et d'héraldique, www.cigh.info), the International Federation of Vexillological Associations (Fédération internationale des associations vexillologiques, www.fiav.org), and the International Academy of Genealogy (L'Académie internationale de généalogie, www.geneacademie.org).
The opening of the ICGHV took place at the National Museum, in the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania. The welcome speeches were delivered by the Chairman of the Institute of Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology, Mr. Remigijus Bimba, the Deputy Director General for Culture and Science of the National Museum, in the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, Prof. Dr. Ramunė Šmigelskytė-Stukienė, the General Secretary of the International Federation of Vexillological Associations, Dr. Bruce Berry (South Africa), and the Vice-Chairman of the International Confederation of Genealogy and Heraldry, Mr. Dirk Weissleder.
At the gala dinner, which was held in the oldest hotel in Vilnius, called "Narutis", the insignia marked with the first number of the international armiger community and a certificate in Latin were presented to the new manager and leader of the community, Mr. Paulius Vaniuchinas, who is the chairman of the board of the Institute of Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology, and one of the directors of the Academy of Heraldry. For the next five years, he will lead not only the international armiger community, but also the Lithuanian armiger district.
The word "arma" in Latin means "coat of arms", and the word "armiger" is derived from "armour". An armiger is thus a physical or moral person entitled by inheritance, grant or confirmation to use a coat of arms. It can be a person, a family, an organization, etc.
Paulius Vaniuchinas, the new leader of the armigers, who was inducted at the celebrations, handed over the distinguishing marks of the armigers to the representative of the Scottish County Armigers, Dr. Bruce Durie, the representative of the Danish District Armigers, Mr. Carl-Thomas von Christierson, the representatives of the German District Armigers, Mr. Dirk Weissleder and Mr. Wolfgang Brozio, the representative of the South African Armigers, Dr. Bruce Berry, and to the Lithuanian District Armigers, namely, Darius Krunglevičius, Andrej Rudanov, Dr. Palmira Zemlevičiūtė, Vytautas Kvietkauskas, Rytis Petrikas, and Remigiius Bimba.
The armigers’ insignia is on a blue field, with a silver chevron pointing upwards (the French word chevron means rafter). This is one of the heraldic figures already used in early heraldry.
The Institute of Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology plans to organize in Vilnius the 4th International Colloquium of Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology in June 2025.
